A little bit about me...

From a young age I have adored clothes and interiors, but have rarely followed fashion and trends, instead, favouring good quality, unique pieces that stand the test of time, whether buying second hand or new. I am the polar opposite to our ‘throw away’ culture and reuse, repurpose, recycle and upcycle as much as I can – buying from charity shops and donating unwanted items back to them.

When I set up my first home I had little money to furnish it, so relied on second hand furniture and donated items from friends and family. I later advanced to Ikea furniture - but went for the good, solid wood pieces that have lasted well - in fact I still have a couple of pieces in my home. However, I realised these were a substitute for what I really wanted - furniture with history and character that I could adapt to suit my style and colour palette. And so my passion for upcycling and repurposing began.

My other love is my garden. I am lucky enough to be renting a light and spacious Victorian ground floor conversion flat with direct access from the kitchen into a generous outside space. When I viewed the flat, the garden was completely overgrown, tangled with ivy and brambles - but it reminded me of the story from my childhood, The Secret Garden, and I felt excited about what was hidden beneath the weeds. Six years on and I have unearthed a stone wall running down one length of the garden, clumps of campanula tumbling down and established rose bushes in a rainbow of colours. 

My garden is an extension to my home - and both are my haven, a place where I love to be, and enjoy spending time in.

I wanted to share my love of interiors, gardens, upcycling and repurposing with others and so I have created the House & Garden Shop to provide a place for you to browse, get inspiration, and buy beautiful and unique items for your home and garden, as well as a place to buy gifts for your friends and family.

You will find furniture, accessories, soft furnishings, lanterns, planters, cards and gifts - some second hand and preloved, and some handmade by me, that you can take home and love.
